Joyce Hession, 82, Loved Laughter, Spending Time with Grandchildren

Joyce Marion Hession, age 82, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Chelsea.

Joyce was born on September 20, 1936 in Ironwood, the daughter of the late August and Lillian (Manninen) Kangas. On August 15, 1957 in Angola, IN, she married Charles M. Hession, and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2010.

Joyce was a big Detroit Tigers fan and loved U of M sports but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. One of Joyce’s favorite quotes was “If you can’t laugh, at least giggle”.

Survivors include her children Kay Stoll, son Michael Hession, and son Bob (Doreen) Hession. Other survivors include grandchildren Eric, Lisa, Travis, Matt, Jason, Justin, Christina and Daniella; great-grandchildren Andrew, Colton and Kinnsley; siblings Arla, Delores, Bernice, Larry and Marvin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death in addition to her husband by her son Terry Hession, her parents, and siblings Keith, Robert, Janie and Vivian.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline. A luncheon at the Saline American Legion will follow the service. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Burial will take place in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the family, or to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
