 10/19/2017 - 10:26

Lorena Dorothy Dieterle, 90, of Saline, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2017 with her family by her side.

Lorena was born on June 1, 1927 to the late Waldo E. Haab and Olga (Hirth) Haab.

On June 23, 1945, she married the late Alfred O. Dieterle.  Lorena is survived by her two children, Elaine (late Robert) Machcinski of Lambertville, Michigan and Glen (Susan) Dieterle of Mentor, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jason Dieterle of St. Charles, Illinois, Brian (Alexandra Fleming) Dieterle of Houston, Texas, and Steven (Niccole Pamphilis) Dieterle of Linlithgow, Scotland; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Maxine, and Evie Dieterle.  She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Tema (late Waldemar) Haab of Jackson, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Dieterle, two brothers, Erwin and Waldemar Haab, sister, Rubena Boelter, and son-in-law Robert Machcinski.

She was the perfect farm wife, pitching in wherever necessary to support the farming operations as well as managing the household. She enjoyed working in her garden, canning fruits and vegetables, letting nothing go to waste.  She loved to bake and cook and we will certainly miss her wonderful soft German pretzels!  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and most recently connecting with great-grandchildren many miles away via Facetime.  She is a longtime member of Bethel United Church of Christ in Manchester.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline.  Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. at Bethel United Church of Christ with a viewing starting at 10:00 A.M.  Rev. Dr. David Bucholtz will be officiating.  Burial will take place immediately following the service at the Bethel Cemetery.  Memorial contributions can be made to Bethel United Church of Christ or Arbor Hospice and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.  To sign Lorena’s guestbook, to leave a memory, or for more information or direction please visit www.rbfhsaline.com.
