Richard Harold Miller of Prairie Village, Kansas, 82, passed away on Saturday, March 17, surrounded by his family. He was born December 31,1935 in Saline, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dona Sue Miller, his daughters, Melissa Lemon and son-in-law Paul Lemon, and Erin Arnold and son-in-law Jonathan Arnold, all of Prairie Village, KS. He is also survived by his brothers Gerald Miller of Saline, Michigan, and Rev. Stephen Miller of Jefferson, North Carolina. He has five grandchildren, Hannah Jo Lemon, Brady Thomas Lemon, Maxwell Mackay Arnold, Liam Miller Arnold and Matthew Finn Arnold.
Richard loved fishing with his wife and brothers in both Minnesota and Canada. He also enjoyed playing golf. In his later years he was a member of The UMKC Forever Young Choir and his church choir. Singing and music brought him great joy, and he was an enthusiastic advocate for music therapy. He was a member of both Atonement Lutheran Church in Overland Park as well as Servant Church of Overland Park. He had a very strong faith in Jesus Christ and his churches and his brothers and sisters in Christ were a very important part of his life. He was a dedicated husband to his wife Sue for 62 years. He cared for her tirelessly and with great joy for the past 16 years during her failing health.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, Michigan at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 14, 2018, with Rev. Stephen Miller officiating, and the Revs. Pam and Keith Koebel assisting. Burial will take place in the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline.
