Thomas Luther Frederiksen 72, of Saline, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Arbor Hospice residence. 

Tom was born January 13, 1948 to the late Hugh Hans and Marjorie L. (Thurkettle) Frederiksen in Grand Rapids, MI. On August 10, 1968 he married Shirley Marie Kabza. 

Tom is survived by his wife Shirley, son Richard (Cynthia) of Chelsea, and two grandchildren; Emma Kathryn and Ryan James. He is also survived by: siblings Beth (Robert) Christians, Jan (Joseph) Maher; sister-in-law Patricia Mulder; his aunt Dorothy Hovingh; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends from Montana, the Domek family, and his beloved dog Greta.

Tom graduated from Godwin High School in 1966 and the University of Michigan College of Engineering in 1970 and 1971. He worked at Roush Racing, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler as a mechanical engineer and also worked as a homebuilder and stonemason. Tom loved hunting, fishing, traveling, racing motorcycles and playing racquetball. He also enjoyed raising pheasants, chickens, German short-hair pointers and pigs for the Rentschler Farm Museum.

He crewed on racing yachts and completed numerous Chicago and Port Huron to Mackinac races. He was a longstanding member of the Detroit Rugby Football Club, Pheasants Forever and Saline Woodcarvers. Memorial donations may be made to Arbor Hospice or Pheasants Forever. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date this summer.
