The Lady Hornets extended their unbeaten streak to six, as Saline swept a doubleheader from Ypsilanti in softball action Tuesday.
Saline won the first game 16-1 and the second game 12-2.
In the opener, Lauren Vaccaro pitched four innings and struck out five batters, giving up three hits in four innings. The game was called because of the mercy rule in the fourth inning.
Vaccaro helped her own cause with a solo home run (pictured above). Angel Schilke went 4-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI. Kaylee Harmon had a double among two hits and she drove in four.
Saline pounded 10 hits and also took advantage of 5 Ypsilanti errors.
Kristina Zalewski earned the win in the nightcap. She struck out nine.
Harmon went 4-for-5 with a double and three singles. Schilke drove in a pair of runs with 2 RBI. Sam Bruley had single and double. Chelsie Leathers was 3-for-4 with two RBI. And Alexis Deland was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI.
Saline took an 8-0 lead in the third. The game was called when Saline plated two runs in the sixth to make it 12-2.
