The Saline Police Department is investigating a home invasion during which two rifles and cash were stolen.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Maple Road early in the morning on Aug. 15.

Police Chief Larry Hrinik said sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. someone cut a bedroom window screen and entered the home. Residents returned home early in the morning to find the damaged screen and missing guns and cash.

Police called the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department who tracked a scent to a nearby parking lot, where it’s presumed a suspect or suspects entered a vehicle.

Evidence collected during the preliminary investigation has been turned over the Saline Police Department’s part-time detective.
