Firefighters from Saline and neighboring communities investigated a fire at factory on the 200 block of South Industrial Drive Wednesday evening.
Firefighters were dispatched to Condat Corporation for a reported fire in machine and potential hazmat situation, according to SAFD Lt. Brandon Sears.
“We found out there was no hazmat situation. There was fire and heavy smoke inside due to a dust collection system,” Sears said. “The fire was out pretty quick due to their internal fire suppression system.”
A small crew was working at the time of the fire. About five or six employees safely evacuated the plant.
Condat Corporation manufactures, located at 250 S. Industrial Drive, industrial lubrication products.
Pittsfield and Milan provided mutual aid. Pittsfield firefighters used their ladder truck to help inspect the facility.
Firefighters remained working on the scene until about 11 p.m.
