The Saline Area Fire Department has suspended the issuance of burn permits after the National Weather Service issued a "Red Flag Warning" until 8 p.m., Tuesday.

According to the alert, strong winds, with gusts of up to 35 miles per hour, could cause an fires that develop to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior
