Saline Firefighters dug out a boy who got stuck in the mud behind Six Trails Apartments on the city’s west side.

Firefighters were dispatched to a location off Huntington Drive at around 1:40 p.m. to assist with a child stuck in the mud.

On arrival, firefighters found a boy, around 11 years old, with one leg waist-deep in the mud and the other leg free. Firefighters spent about an hour using shovels to dig the boy out.

Cornell said the boy did not require medical treatment.

The children were playing in a marshy area near the Saline River that was particularly muddy due to the flooding after the recent rainfall.
