Suspect Flees Police, Crashes Car, Escapes on Foot in Lodi Township

A suspect who fled police crashed his vehicle and managed to escape on foot in Lodi Township Thursday evening.

Around 11:20 p.m. a driver was westbound on Pleasant Lake Road when he passed a deputy at a high rate of speed, according to Derrick Jackson, Director of Community Engagement for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. As the deputy turned on the emergency lights and turned to pursue, the driver sped off, Jackson said.

The deputy saw the driver turn on to Gensley Road and went that way, pursuing at a slower pace because of the dead end there, Jackson said. At the dead end the deputy found the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a cement barrier. Before deputies arrived, the suspect had already fled, Jackson said.

The suspect remains at large.
