A Saline man called police after people stole his canoe from the banks of Mill Pond early Thursday.

Around 2:45 a,m. to 3 a.m., A Pondview Street man was awoken by a loud noise which caused his dog to start barking. His 18-19-foot Grumman aluminum canoe was chained to a tree on his property by Mill Pond. The man later realized it was stolen.

The victim believes at least two people were responsible for the theft due to the size and weight of the canoe. He estimated it would cost $2,000 to replace the canoe.

Anyone who witnessed the activity or who has information is asked to call the Saline Police Department at 734-429-7911.
