Two Senior Citizens Ticketed for Tailgating Each Other

Two 65-year-old Saline men were ticketed for reckless driving after horseplay on the roads in Saline March 11.

At approximately 6:40 p.m., a Saline police officer was on southbound Maple Road near Maplewood Drive when he saw two vehicles moving recklessly. First the officer a saw a red Ford F-150 constantly applying its brakes ahead of a Ford Flex that was tailgating. The F-150 pulled on to the shoulder and allowed the Flex to pass. Then the driver of the pickup began tailgating the Ford Flex. The driver of the Flex began hitting the brakes. Other vehicles on the road slowed down and avoid these two vehicles, according to the police report.

Police flashed the emergency lights and stopped both vehicles. Both drivers admitted to driving aggressively, according to the report.

Brick Thrown Through Window

On March 8, a brick was thrown through the window at the Grossman building on the 100 block of South Ann Arbor Street. The damage was to a window on the south side of the building, 15 feet above the ground.

Saline Woman Arrested for Drunk Driving

A 31-year-old Old Creek Court woman was arrested for operating while impaired March 10.  At approximately 1:30 a.m. Saline police spotted an SUV parked in the lot at Huntington Bank. Police arrived at the vehicle. As the officer neared the vehicle he was the woman place a sweatshirt over her lap and could tell the woman’s pants weren’t completely on.

The woman told police she was on her way home from grocery shopping at Meijer when she stopped to urinate in a cup. Police found a can of Bud Light Cherry-Ahh-Rita in her vehicle. They also found a cup, half-full of the beverage.

A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol of .175, more than twice the legal limit of .08. The woman was arrested and transported to Washtenaw County Jail for lodging.
