A 16-year-old Saline male is in custody after being charged with armed robbery and receiving and concealing stolen property.
The incident occurred after 9 p.m., Feb. 28, at Brecon Park. Three 15-year-olds and a 19-year-old arrived at the park to meet an acquaintance. When the acquaintance arrived he produced what appeared to be a handgun and demanded their personal property. The teens complied and the suspect fled the area.
At around 2 a.m. March 1, Saline Police took custody of the suspect at Eastern Michigan University. Saline Police were assisted by law enforcement from the Washtenaw County Sheriff, Pittsfield and Eastern Michigan University.
Police Chief Jerrod Hart said the suspect did not produce a real handgun, but weapon facsimiles designed to trick someone into believing they are armed. The suspect was arraigned in juvenile court where he will be held until his next hearing Wednesday.
