A York Township family was safe and together upstairs when they called 911 after a man broke into their home around 12:30 a.m., April 3, according to an email alert issued by a Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

The incident occurred on the 200 block of Brittany Lane. According to Deputy Andrew Carter’s email, the suspect apparently forced entry through a basement window. He was seen on surveillance video inside the resident by the homeowners. He fled the residence, “likely due to the house alarm,” according to the Carter.

He was described as a 6’1 white male with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

According to the alert, the Michigan State Police are investigating the case. An official at the Michigan State Police Brighton Post could not confirm any details about the investigation.

Anyone with information can contact Deputy Carter at [email protected].

Deputy Carter warned residents to keep doors locked, use exterior lights and house alarms, and to immediately report suspicious activity by calling 911.
