Homecoming weekend may come sooner than fall for Andrew Parrish.
Buried in the consent agenda for Tuesday’s Saline Board of Education meeting is a human resources report recommended by Assistant Superintendent Curt Ellis. The report lists Andrew Parish as the new Saline Area Schools Athletic Director. The report is typically approved among several others in the consent agenda, usually without discussion and fanfare.
According to the report, Parrish will begin June 4. Interim Athletic Director Scott Theisen is expected to return to his physical education position. Parrish will be the fourth Athletic Director since 2015, when Rob White resigned as Athletic Director after nine years on the job
More than 30 people applied for the position. A committee recommended four finalists for the job to district administration, which is recommending Parris for the post.
Parrish, a graduate of Saline High School, is Deputy Director of Athletics for Southern Utah University, where he oversees the football, men’s basketball, and men’s and women’s golf teams. He is also responsible for several sub-departments, including business operations, human resources, insurance, equipment operations, facilities, capital projects and athletics medicine. Before moving to Utah, Parrish held several positions at the University of Minnesota, where he was Associate Athletics Director, Senior Director and Director of Event Management and Championships.
Parrish earned a degree in business management from Miami University and received a master of science degree in sports administration from Georgia State University.
As a student at Saline High School, Parrish was vice president of his senior class. He played varsity football for two years and earned Academic All State Special Mention honors. He competed on the track team for four years and was captain as a senior.
His father, Stan Parrish, was assistant football coach for the 1997 national champion Michigan Wolverines and Super Bowl XXXVII champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
