Saline Area Schools presented the annual String Fling at Saline High School Tuesday night.
Students from grades five through 12 fiddled in front of a large crowd in the gymnasium.
The concert began with the fifth grade orchestra performing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. Then the middle school orchestras played. The first half of the show concluded with a performance by the middle school fiddle club.
The Saline Fiddlers Philharmonic opened the second half of the show with Morrison's Jig. Then it was back to the orchestras. First, the freshmen orchestra performed Soon Hee Newbold's Iditarod. The symphony orchestra followed with a version of Smoky Robinson's My Girl. The chamber orchestra played Richard Meyer's Miraj.
The concert concluded with the combined high school orchestras performing Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Allegro.
People who wish to support the music program are encouraged by the Saline Music Boosters to test drive a Briarwood Ford vehicle during the Drive One 4UR School event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 11, at Harvest Elementary School. Ford will donate $20 for every test drive.
