Alana Hollis of Saline has received the Arthur Loren Kontio Outstanding Young Biologist Award from Central Michigan University.
The award, up to $1,000 in value, is given to one notable student in the biology department. Applicants must be nominated by a biology department faculty member.
Hollis, a junior at CMU, is a graduate of Saline High School. She is the daughter of Steve and Katie Hollis of Saline.
She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences and plans to attend dental school.
