After Thrilling Win Against Dexter, Saline Volleyball Falls to Monroe

Olivia Vance had the match-winning kill against Dexter.

After a rousing, backs-against-the-wall comeback to defeat Dexter, Saline fell to Monroe in straight sets in the semifinal at the Saline Hornet Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday.

In a back-and-forth tie-breaker with Dexter, Saline led 14-13 and was just a point away from winning. But Dexter responded with two points to put the Hornets on the brink.

Down 15-14, Saline got a point back on a bad serve. Then Mickaley Monahan stepped up to the service line and Saline got a point to take the lead. Brianna Woods passed to Olivia Vance, who just returned from injury and was still wearing a cast on her hand, for the match-winning kill.

Saline seemed to lack the same energy in the Monroe match and the Hornets lost 2-0.
