The Saline varsity girls cross country team placed sixth at the Jackson Invite at Ella Sharp Park Saturday.

Saline finished with 146 points, Birmingham Seaholm won with 77 points.
Seven Hornets ran in the race and all set a personal record. Saline was led by sophomore Kayla Fortino, who was 19th in 19:12. She was followed by Regan Barsch, who was 23rd in 19:29.4. Emma Cummings (25th, 19:36), Ella Woehlke (39th, 19:57) and Rebecca Cantrell (40th, 19:58) rounded out the scoring for Saline. Julia Romero (43rd, 19:59) and Alexa Stern (44th, 20:01) also ran for the Lady Hornets.
Saturday, the junior varsity team ran the Jefferson Invitational at Sterling State Park in Monroe. The Lady Hornets placed fifth. Gillian Hartley was Saline’s fastest runner, placing 12th in 20:34. Katelyn Szafranski (24th), Nicole Dillman (25th), Abigail Wilson (28th) and Leah Hyne (35th) finished in the scoring for Saline.

1) Kayla Fortino - The Saline sophomore continues to impress, running her fastest time yet.
2) Regan Barsch - Barsch and Fortino have consistently Saline's 1-2 runners all season. Barsch, too, set a personal best.
3) Emma Cummings - The Saline sophomore returned to the varsity lineup and ran a strong race, setting a personal best.
