Saline improved to 5-0 in the SEC by sweeping a doubleheader from Huron, 8-1 and 10-1, Monday.
Cole Daniels was the winning pitcher in the opening game. He pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up just one hit and an earned run. He struggled with control, walking five, but he struck out four. Tyler Zmich pitched 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief and Justin Flanagan threw one inning of scoreless relief, walking one, giving up a hit and fanning one.
Saline stroked 12 hits of Huron’s pitching. Kellan Huang, Zach Schwartzenberger, Sean O’Keefe and Daniels each had two hits. Daniels, Schwartzenberger, Huang, O’Keefe and Ryan Foley hit doubles.
Saline scored a run in the first, three runs in the third and sixth and a run in the sixth.
Danny Weidmayer pitched six innings for the win in the nightcap. He gave up three hits, walked none and struck out six. Saline had 11 hits. Huang, Ethan Collick and Weidmayer each had two hits. Huang and Joe Borowski hit doubles. Collick also had two stolen bases.
Saline was held with out a run but then scored at least two runs in each of the next five innings to win a game called after six innings due to the mercy rule.
Saline, 12-1, visits Huron Wednesday.
