Basketball: Bauer Leads 3rd Quarter Charge as Saline Wins at Dexter

DEXTER -- Senior Brooke Bauer scored seven of her 11 points during a third quarter in which Saline outscored Dexter, 12-3, and the Hornets went on to win 37-33, Tuesday

Coach Leigh Ann Roehm credited a strong second-half defensive effort and senior leadership for the victory

Bauer also had five rebounds. Senior Asia Lindsey made five-of-six free throws down the stretch and finished with seven points and four rebounds. Freshman Ella Stemmer finished with 13 points and five rebounds.

Saline was down 12-5 after the first quarter. The Hornets chipped away at Dexter's lead in the second quarter and were down 21-16 at halftime. Saline took over in the third quarter.

Liz Sekerak (3 points), Kelsey Alexander (2 points) and Erin Reilly (1 point) also made the scorebook. Leeya Lawson was credited with playing a strong defensive game.
