Ella Stemmer scored 28 points as Saline defeated Pioneer for the second time this season in varsity girls basketball action at Saline High School Tuesday.
The Hornets fired to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter and hung on for a decisive video.
Saline improved to 13-2 on the season and 5-2 in the SEC Red.
Stemmer's 28 points left her four short of 1,000 for her career. The Hornets visit Monroe Thursday. Stemmer, a junior, also had seven rebounds and four assists.
Senior Steffi Bentley also had a great game scoring 18 points while adding 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Sophie Canen and Liz Sekerak each scored seven points, with Canen adding three rebounds and two assists and Sekerak adding two rebounds, steals and assists. Natalie Sweetland scored three points. Amera Boy scored two points and grabbed five rebounds.
