Brooke Bauer scored seven points for Saline.

Saline’s varsity girls basketball team lost to Northville, 64-36, Tuesday at Saline High School.

The Hornets fell to 1-2 on the season.

Northville led 18-2 after the first quarter.

The Mustangs were led by Kendall Dillon, who scored 15. Tara Beacon added 12 points and Charlotte Bacci scored 11 points.

Saline junior Nicole Sweetland led the Hornets with 15 points – 12 of which came in the second half.

Ella Stemmer scored six points and grabbed five rebounds and Brooke Bauer scored seven points.

“We had a lot of trouble with their pressure early in the game. It led to a lot of turnovers and easy buckets,” Saline coach Leigh Ann Roehm said.

The Hornets lost Asia Lindsey in the second quarter with an ankle injury.

Roehm said the team improved as the game went on.

Her young team is still learning what they can and can’t do at the varsity level – particularly against stronger teams like Northville.
