BASKETBALL: Yaklich Scores 15 as Saline Stuns Ypsilanti

Saline stunned Ypsilanti, handing the SEC White champions just their second loss of the season. Saline outscored Ypsilanti 17-8 in the fourth quarter and won 45-39.

The victory improves Saline’s record to 11-9 and sends the Hornets into Monday’s playoff game against host Ypsilanti-Lincoln on a two-game winning streak.

Sophomore Griffin Yaklich scored 15 points to lead the Hornets. Emmett Turner scored 10 points and grabbed three rebounds. Trevor Arico scored seven points, grabbed four rebounds and had two assists. Erik Wenning scored six points.

Saline led 8-6 after the first quarter and 21-20 at halftime. Ypsilanti led 31-28 after three quarters. Saline when on a 9-1 run to open the fourth quarter.
