Belleville Defeated Bedford 27-24 in overtime Friday night – which likely means Saline will visit Canton in the opening round of the MHSAA Division 1 football playoffs.

Most of the playoff football bracket projections have had Saline (7-1), Belleville (9-0) and Canton (8-1) in the same district. Belleville entered the week with

Had Bedford won, Saline might have leapfrogged Belleville in playoff points and hosted Belleville as the two seed in the district.

Instead, Belleville remains the number one seed with 109.333 points. Canton, which defeated Livonia Churchill 35-21, finished with 102.111 points. Saline, which could not find an opponent to play, finished with 92.444 points.

Salem won its game with Northville, 40-27, which could put the Rocks in Saline’s district. Livonia Stevenson is another possibility.

There’s also the chance Saline finds itself in a district with West Michigan Schools. Should that happen Saline might find itself at home again.

According to coach Joe Palka, Saline planned to spend Friday scouting Belleville and Canton.

The MHSAA football playoff field and first-round pairings will be announced Sunday, Oct. 22, during the annual Selection Sunday Show at 7 pm on FOX Sports Detroit-PLUS. The show can be viewed online at
