GYMNASTICS: Saline Defeats Coldwater in League Competition

Alex Wagner was the top gymnast in two events for Saline.

The Saline High School gymnastics team won at home Wednesday night, defeating Coldwater 131.125 to 114.7.

Senior Alex Wagner turned in a strong performance. She tied Charlotte Peterson for the top score on the vault (8.65) and scored best on the balance beam (9.025). Junior Sarah Finkiewicz also did well. She was the top performer on the uneven bars (7.8) and finished in the scoring on all four events. Charlotte Peterson also finished in the scoring on all four events.

Saline defeated Coldwater in all four events. In the vault, Saline won 34.05 to 31.45. Wagner and Peterson led the Hornets (8.65). Finkiewicz (8.4) and Sarah McLaughlin (8.35) also finished in the scoring. Lauren Sachli (8.325), Selina Sachli (8.25) and Bella Hornyak (8.05) also scored over 8.0. Hordon Raft, competing on the B-team, scored an 8.3.

Saline won 30.8 to 22.75 on the uneven bars. Finkiewicz led all gymnasts with a score of 7.8. Lauren Sachli and Wagner scored 7.2 and Charlotte Peterson score 7.15 to complete the scoring. Hornyak also scored over 7 (7.05).

On the balance beam Saline won 34.025 to 30.275. Wagner’s 9.025 led all gymnasts. Megan Mulligan was second at 8.4. Finkiewicz (8.375) and Peterson (8.225) also finished in the scoring. Lauren Sachli finished with a score over 8 (8.175). Valentina Urrea, competing on Saline’s B-team, finished with a score of 8.3.

On the floor, Mulligan led all gymnasts with a score of 8.250. Finkiewicz was second at 8.125. Peterson (7.975) also finished in the scoring. Selina Sachli and McLaughlin finished tied for the fourth spot at 7.9.
