Grandville defeated Saline, 3-1, Saturday at the Ice Cube, ending the Hornets' two-game win streak.
Saline fell to 3-6 overall.
The Hornets battled against a fast and physical Grandville team, but Saline struggled to find the back of the net.
Still, the Hornets were in it until the very end. With 2:54 to play Cayden Brush scored to get the Hornets within one. Julian Downey assisted.
But the Hornets were assessed a five-minute major penalty during the goal celebration and Saline spent the rest of the game shorthanded.
The Hornets continued to battle and had a few chances to tie it after pulling the goalie before Grandville added a third goal into an empty net.
Coach Paul Fassbender was pleased with Saline's effort.
"I'm proud of this team's effort tonight. We still have a long way to go but I think a few more guys are buying in," Fassbender said. "We played well, we just couldn't buy a goal."
Fassbender said Saline goalie Griffin Granica played very well.
"Griffin was amazing in net for us," Fassbender said.
