Saline Boys Take 2nd in SEC Cross Country Jamboree

It was a familiar refrain at the final SEC boys cross country jamboree of the season.

Pioneer, led by individual champion Nick Foster, won the meet and captured the SEC Title.

Saline, led by third place finisher Anthony DeKraker, finished second and took second overall in the conference.

Pioneer won with 30 points. Saline finished with 61 points and held off a charge from Skyline, which finished with 68 points.

Foster won the race in 15:29, 13 seconds faster than Skyline’s Anthony Giannobile.

DeKraker was third in 16:04. Saline’s second fastest runner was Joshua Cook. The senior finished his SEC career with a personal record time of 16:18 – good for eighth place in the race. Junior Simon Pfeiffer (14th, 16:35), junior Jevin Nishioka (17th, 16:38) and senior Aidan Delfuoco (19th, 16:48) finished in the scoring.

William Minnette (26th, 17:15.2) and Will Downey (32nd, 17:46) also ran for the varsity squad.

The junior varsity race featured runners from schools in both the SEC Red and SEC White. Saline was second to Pioneer in the 12-school race.

Neil Garg was seventh in 17:14 to lead the Hornets. Evan Bleitz, Derek Liemohn, Jack Toor and Brock Boze finished in the scoring for Saline.
