Saline ran well at the final SEC girls cross country jamboree of the season, held Thursday at Mill Pond Park, but it wasn’t enough to catch conference-leading Pioneer.

The Pioneers, led by individual champion Anne Forsyth, won with 30 points. Jessi Larson led the Lady Hornets, who were second with 52 points.

Junior Kayla Fortino was fifth in 19:12.7.

Senior Rebecca Cantrell (12th, 19:46), sophomore Nicole Dillmann (14th, 19:56) and sophomore Ella Woehlke (21st, 20:26) finished in the scoring five for Saline.

Senior Juliana Romero (22nd, 20:35) and junior Emma Cummings (23rd, 20:41) also ran for the Hornet varsity squad.

Saline’s junior varsity team dominated the SEC Red/White reserve race.

Saline finished with 16 points – just one point away from the perfect score.

Madeline Stewart won the race in 20:52. Katherine Clark, Abigail Wilson and Alexa Stern came in right behind her, giving Saline a sweep of the 1-4 places. Sarah Franko was sixth, completing the Hornet scoring. Haley Greene and Katelyn Szafranski also finished in the top 10.
