The Saline varsity girls’ cross country team finished 13th at the Portage Invite, held Saturday, at Portage West Middle School.
The Hornets ran without their top runner, Jessi Larson. Junior Kayla Fortino was the top Hornet, finishing the 5K race in 19:19, good for 20th. Senior Rebecca Cantrell was 35th in 19:52. Sophomore Nicole Dillmann (75th, 20:30), senior Juliana Romero (147th, 21:28) and sophomore Ella Woehlke (161st, 21:41) also figured into the scoring for the Lady Hornets.
Saline’s girls took sixth in the 2,500-meter middle school race. Taylor Yaklich was fourth in 9:21 to lead Saline. The Saline girls were seventh in the 2500-meter sixth grade race. Adyson Naebeck was the fastest Hornet, finishing 32nd in 11:26 – four seconds faster than teammate Laney Alig.
