The Saline gymnastics team opened 2018 by defeating Hartland 132.05-130.2.
The Hornets bested the Eagles on the bars and then edged them on the beam and the floor. Hartland edged Saline in the vault. Sophomore Sarah McLaughlin won two events and finished fourth in another.
In the vault the Hornets were led by Sarah Finkiewicz with a score of 8.45. Jordan Raft (8.4), Megan Mulligan (8.325) and Sarah McLaughlin (8.25) also finished in the scoring.
In the floor exercises, Sarah McLaughlin was the best on both teams, scoring 8.875. Mullugan was second for Saline (8.425), and Liv Paduan and Raft (8.3) finished tied for third to finish in the scoring.
McLaughlin was also the best from either team on the beam, scoring 8.975. Paduan (8.275), Valentina Urrea and Annie Miloser (8.05) also finished in the scoring for Saline.
Lisa Heider was the best of both teams on the bars. She finished with a score of 8.575. Finkiewicz (8.0), Mulligan (7.7) and Bella Hornyak (7.1) also finished in the scoring.
Saline visits Coldwater Monday and is home to Tecumseh Wednesday.
