Saline Wrestlers Earn Split With Tecumseh, Skyline

Nolan Krause won by decision at 160 to put Saline up for good in their match against Skyline.

The Saline varsity wrestling team went 1-1 Wednesday in a meet at Saline High School.

Saline defeated Skyline 38-21 and lost to Tecumseh 50-18.

Saline is 5-3 in the SEC and 9-6 overall.

Against Tecumseh, Dan Poupore won by pin at 135. Ethan Capobianco won by decision in OT, 4-2, at 160. At 189 Zach Sabin won with a 7-0 decision. Dylan Powers won by pin at 215.

Skyline jumped to an early 9-0 lead against Saline but Poupore won by tech fall and then Harrison Hill won by decision at 140 to close the gap to one. After Saline lost by pin at 145, Cade Gilless earned the pin at 152. The Hornets went ahead when Nolan Krause won by decision at 160. Powers (189) and Sabin (215) won by pin and Henry Koenen won by decision at heavyweight to clinch the victory. David Gould (103) and Kolton Malincsak (119) earned tough victories by decision.
