Saline Chris Chuparkoff takes the baton in the 4-by-400 relay Friday night. Saline entered the race down to Pioneer by one point. Chuparkoff took the baton for the last leg of the relay a 1/2 second after his Pioneer rival. Chuparkoff passed his opponent and won the race, giving Saline the two-point swing it needed to win its eighth straight regional

The Saline boys track and field team has won eight straight regional championships. But it doesn’t get any closer than the one-point victory the Hornets earned Friday night. Here’s a look back at the recent scores.
