Saline defeated Huron, 54-0, to remain unbeaten (5-0 overall and 3-0 in the SEC Red).  The Hornets sit atop the SEC, one game ahead of Bedford and Monroe, who both won this week. There probably wasn’t a surprising winner in the SEC Red this week. But Bedford tore apart a Skyline team that beat Monroe last week and that gave Saline about all it could handle two weeks ago.

The Mules aren’t going away.

Neither are the Trojans. A week after losing 35-22 to Skyline, Monroe bounced back to beat Pioneer 16-13. Pioneer, despite that 1-4 record, is the same team that took Bedford to overtime when SEC Red play opened three weeks ago.

What does it all mean for the SEC Red race? There are still too many variables in play. Despite the Pioneers’ record, the Hornets can’t take them lightly. The Pioneer defense has given up just four touchdowns in regulation play during its three SEC Red games.  A win, of course, gives the Hornets at least a share of the SEC Red. It also clinches a playoff berth.

Perhaps the biggest game of the week is Monroe at Bedford. The winner stays in the race for the SEC Red. The loser is mostly likely out of the hunt.
