Nikki Dillman slaloms down Mt. Brighton

It’s been a busy week for the Saline-Chelsea ski team.

The team competed at Mt. Brighton Thursday evening.

The girls performed well, taking fourth place. Nikki Dillman, Kate McInnis, Ally Dillman and Elizabeth Johnson finished in the scoring for Saline. Sydney Collins and Emily Hornberger also raced and finished.

Nikki Dillman finished the course in 20.07 and 20.46 to place 7th overall. McInnis wasn’t far behind, placing 12th with a total time of 42.33. Amy Dillman was 29th and in one run timed at 21.92. Johnson was right behind her, taking 32nd with a total time of 45.84. Collons (44 1/2 , 48.13) and Hornberger (53rd, 51.72) also raced.

On the boys’ side, the Hornets were undermanned, with their top skier out for the race. Two of the inexperienced skiers were disqualified for crossing the wrong finish line (which were right next to each other).

Caden Faupel was the top male skier. He had a great first-run but, due to a clock malfunction, had to redo it. On the second try, he slipped just a bit around one of the flags, slowing him down. Still, he ranked 17th with a total time of 40.35 for the two runs that counted. Mason Kipley was 50th with a total time of 48.24.
