Swim & Dive: Saline Picks Up 3 Wins

The Saline girls swim and dive team picked up three victories at Saline High School Thursday. Saline defeated Dexter, 113.5-72.5, Monroe, 153-30, and Ypsilanti, 153-23.

Gabriella Richards, Emma Loveland, Anna Bosinger and Kiersten Russel won the 200-yard medley relay in a D1-qualifying time of 1:49.24. Samantha Graden, Madison Miller, Sam Bullard and Bella  Arbaugh were second in 1:56.02.

The 200 IM was won by Dexter's Hailee Water (1:57.9). Saline sophomore Johanna Ehrman was second in 2:00.23. Freshman Megan Socha (2:03) and sophomore Allison Ploutz-Snyder (2:04) were third and fourth.

Dexter's Charlotte Schultz won the 200-yard IM in 2:15.05. Graden was second in 2:15.45. She was followed by Bosinger (2:19), Courtney Marsh (2:19) and Carolina Klein (2:21).

Saline's first individual victory was turned in by junior Kiersten Russell, who won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.35 - .22 seconds faster than Arbaugh, who was second. Emma Loveland was third in 25.93.

Dexter divers Vivian Kinnard and Lily Witte placed first and second. Saline's Alice English (213.8) and Megan Mulligan (211.1) were third and fourth.

Graden won the butterfly with a D1-qualifying time of 59.86 - leading the Hornets to a 1-2-3-4 finish. Following Graden were Loveland (1:01.64), Ehrman (1:01.74) and Marsh (1:02.91).

Saline's next individual victory came from Arbaugh. The freshman swam the 100-yard freestyle in 55.24. Bosinger was second in 56.09.

Dexter's Hailee Waters won the 500 freestyle in 5:19.27. Allison Ploutz-Snyder was second in 5:27.38 and Elizabeth Burchart was third in 5:39.45.

The Hornets took the 200-yard freestyle relay. Arbaugh, Bosinger, Ehrman and Loveman finished in 1:43.47 - more than two seconds faster than Dexter.

Russell's second victory came in the 100-yard backstroke, which she won in a D1-qualifying time of 59.19. Senior Madison Miller won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:09.00. Klein was third in 1:14.83.

Saline finished the evening by taking second in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Ehrman, Socha, Amelia Hayes and Russell swam for Saline.
