TRACK & FIELD: Distance Runners, Relays Lead Saline Past Monroe

The Saline boys’ track and field team won its second dual meet of the season, defeating Skyline 86-51, at Saline High School Tuesday.

The distance runners and relays carried the day for the Hornets.

Saline won all four relays and took eight of the nine scoring places in the three distance races.

The Hornets swept the top three in the 3200. Emmett Berryhill won in a time of 10:45.99. James Harrison was second (10:55) and William Minnette (10:57) was third. Minnette won the 1600 in 4:35.29. Shay Milley was third in 4:44.9. In the 800, Brock Boze won with a time of 2:03.9 – a personal best. Chris Van Dyke (2:03.61) was second and Minnette (2:03.72) was third.

Saline’s lone victory in the sprints came from Jacob Stuck, who won the 200 in 24 seconds - .09 seconds faster than Kyle Greenwood. Niels Linde was third in 24.35. Jamari Harris Pryce was third in the 100 meters (11.56). Andrew Victoria was second in the 400 meters (53.6).

Saline’s other individual victory on the track was from Zach Gabanyicz, who won the 110 hurdles in 15.94. Trevor Kudlak (17.88) was second. Nathan Irgang was third in the 300 hurdles (45.27).

The Hornets had two victories in the field. Luke Atzinger  won the pole vault by clearing 13 feet. Max Schneider was second, also clearing 13 feet. Matthew Hardt was third, clearing 12 feet. Saline took the top seven spots in pole vault. Ian Hanby was first in discus, throwing 123-01.

Hanby also placed third in shot put (40-0). Silas Shaerer cleared 5-04 to place third in high jump. He was second in long jump, leaping 19-07.25. Nicholas Borneo was third, going 18-03.5.
