Maddy Murphy scored 13 goals in three games in a tournament this weekend at Skyline.

Saline, 17-1, improved to 6-0 in district play by defeating Chelsea 17-3 Saturday.

Cassie Anderson and Maddy Murphy each scored four goals. Hope Smith scored three goals.

Lauryn Cruse and Gillian Cain each scored two goals. Annika Olsen and Sam Fitch each scored a goal.

Katie Wagner was solid in goal and helped the offense with two assists.

Saline’s captains, Murphy, Anderson and Fitch, combined for seven goals and five steals in the first quarter to ignite the Hornets.

The Hornets are 6-0 in district play with one game remaining, Wednesday, at home to Walled Lake. An undefeated record in district play would theoretically give Saline the easiest path in the state playoffs.

Earlier in the day, Saline defeated Grand Blanc, 15-1.

Murphy, Anderson and Smith each scored three goals. Lisa Gross scored two goals. Cain, Fitch, Kruse and Emily Huetteman each scored a goal. Alyssa Deal earned the win in goal.

Friday, the Hornets defeated Pioneer 11-3. Murphy scored six goals to lead Saline. Anderson added three goals. Cain and Jen Green each scored a goal. Gross had a couple of steals to set up Saline goals.
