Yesterday we showed you the flooding along the Saline River at Curtiss Park.
This photograph was taken during the event that ran at Cobo Center in Detroit, August 28 to 30, 1984.
This scan is of an envelope from our collection, and was postmarked here in Saline eight-six years ago — on December 5, 1931.
Postcard, the only markings on which read as you see here: "Bridge Over Saline River, Saline, Mich." There's a handwritten message on the back with a date of July 28, 1919.
We're not only in the postcard business. We collect interesting postcards made by others.
The example above is from Marty's Restaurant in 1967.
After years of settling into a matter-of-fact presence in overgrowth on a dead-end section of railroad track, this decaying bit of history is now at the center of development.
