Official Synopsis of the Aug. 13 Council Meeting

The official synopsis of the Aug. 13 Saline City Council meeting was approved at Monday's council meeting. It follows:

 

SALINE CITY COUNCIL

August 13, 2012 REGULAR MEETING

SYNOPSIS

The Regular meeting of the Saline City Council was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Driskell at Saline City Hall.  The Mayor and all members of Council were present.  There were eighteen citizens present.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  By unanimous vote of Council, the Agenda was approved as amended.  A Letter of Recognition was presented to Chrissy Houle and there was an update from Saline Main Street.  There were no citizen comments on agenda items.  The following Consent Agenda items were approved  by unanimous vote of Council: Council minutes and synopsis of the July 25, 2012 regular meeting; payment of 173 payees in the amount of $756,756.71; updated investment report as of 6/30/12; Proclamation of the month of September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and authorization for teal ribbons to be placed on the light poles downtown; appointment of Police Chief Hrinik to the Washtenaw County Emergency Telephone District Board for 2012; Staff to make application to CARES Board for grant funding for the purchase of 6 ADA door openers and 5 water refilling stations for the Rec Center.  

Public Hearings:

A public hearing was held on the application of ECI, Inc. d/b/a Cancun Mexican Grill, 405 E. Michigan Ave,

Saline for the available Quota Liquor License held by the City of Saline.  There were no public comments.

By unanimous vote of Council the Resolution was adopted recommending approval and issuance of the Class

C Liquor License, above all others, to Cancun Mexican Grill and the Mayor and Clerk were authorized to sign an agreement with ECI, Inc. for the license.

New Business:

By unanimous vote of Council, the following items were approved:  Materials Management Agreement with Synagro Central, LLC to clean the city’s septage holding tank at an amount not to exceed $25,000; accepted the resignation of Mike Popovitz from the Parks Commission;  approved the waiver of the showmobile rental fee of $1,200 for Saline Community Fair and only charge for the delivery/pick-up fee in the amount of $480 with Councilmember Girbach voting “no”. 

There were seven Discussion and/or Report items.  There were five public comments.  

The meeting was adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
