Saline Girls Cross Country Runners Take Eighth Meet of Season
The Saline High School girls’ cross country team tuned up for the regionals at Friday’s River Rat Open at Willow Metropark.
The Hornets, as a team, were in coast-mode but still won the race with ease. Saline finished with 38 points, 22 points better than second place Huron.
Freshman Hayleigh Cummings was Saline’s fastest over the finish line. She was fourth in 19:30.2. Senior Kelly Hall was seventh in 19:38. Lindsay Walter set an all-time personal mark, finishing eighth in 19:40. Hall and Walter led a pack of Hornets over the finish line. Alyssa Cummings (9th, 19:41), Elianna Shwayder (10th, 19:41), Gloria Park (11th, 19:42) and Gillian Walter (12th, 19:42) rounded out the Hornet top seven.
It was Saline’s eighth win of the season.
Saline’s season continues Thursday with the SEC Championship Jamboree at Hudson Mills Metropark. The girls race at 5:30 p.m.
