Countdown to Oktoberfest: Reason #2 -- Friendship, Neighbor to Neighbor and Nation to Nation

Oktoberfest and Harvest of the Arts provide great opportunities to meet up with your friends in downtown Saline.

In fact, the kinship that fuels Oktoberfest is rather grand. Like the Saline Celtic Festival, Oktoberfest is a celebration of Saline's great relationship with a town across the pond. Where the Celtic Festival celebrates Saline's sister city relationship with Brecon, Walkes, Oktoberfest celebrates Saline's sister-city city relationship with Lindenberg, Germany. 

The town of Lindenberg celebrated its 1,150th birthday in 2007. For much of the 20th century, Lindenberg's economy was centered around the manufacturing of hats.  Saline's connection to Lindenberg was built around the city's relationship with Liebherr Aerospace. The company, which recently expanded its service facility on Woodland Drive, calls Lindenberg home.

Finally, Oktoberfest is also a celebration of Saline's German heritage.
