Countdown to Oktoberfest: Reason #7 -- The Chili Challenge!
What’s better on a cool fall day than a piping hot cup of chili? How about 10 varieties of delicious chili to choose from, made by the talented students in the Saline High School culinary arts program and Saline Area Fire Department firefighters.
The Firefighter’s Chili Challenge pairs a firefighter with students from Chef Musto’s culinary arts program to cook up some of the tastiest chili around! The chili teams serve their delicious creations at Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 11 a.m.– 1 p.m. We have 10 different types of chili featured this year. You can sample four cups of chili and get a big slab of corn bread for $5. Come on down and vote for your favorite recipe!
The proceeds from the Chili Challenge benefit the Firefighters and Friends Culinary Arts Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded each year to a Saline High School senior who is continuing education in the culinary arts.
