White, Rasmussen Drive Saline Golf Team Past Huron
Hornets love to golf at Eagle Crest Golf Club. In 2010 the Saline girls won a state championship at the course. The boys won there in 2006.
The winning ways continued Wednesday as Saline's girls team defeated the Huron River Rats 182-221.
Emily While shot a 42 for the match medal. She finished strong, shooting birdies on two of her final three holes.
Lauren Rasmussen continued her September charge shooting 45, another personal best. Louisa Antonelli shot a 48 and Samantha Kellstrom came in with a 48 to complete the scoring. Stacey Cruze's 49 and Caitlin Swiney's 51 didn't count for scoring.
"I am particularly pleased with the team scores on the tricky back nine which most of the team had not played before. Emily, Stacy and Samantha played well today except for struggling on a couple of holes but it is really encouraging to see the improvement from Louisa, Lauren and Caitlin (who had a personal best ending with a birdie and par). We need strength throughout the lineup for success in the final stretch," said coach Betsy French.
Saline returns to action Thursday in the SEC Preview at Pineview Golf Course.
