SYC Event Aims to Provide Inexpensive Dresses for Special Events
The Saline Youth Council sponsors "Dress for Less" Sept. 15 at the Saline Rec Center.
Saline’s “City Council for Teens” is sponsoring an event to help make sure all students can afford dresses for special events, such as homecoming or prom.
The “Dress for Less,” event, sponsored by the Saline Youth Council, will be held from noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15 at the Saline Rec Center, 1866 Woodland Drive.
The event, which raises money for Saline Youth Council programs, works in two ways.
First, people who wish to donate dresses or sell them on consignment can drop off clean, stylish dresses on hangers at the Rec Center from 4-7 p.m., Sept 11-13. To consign, people must fill out a form for each dress they wish to sell. The owner will receive 40 percent of the selling price within a week of the sale.
Dresses will be sold from $5 to $50 on the day of the event. Buyers must pay by cash or check.
