QUARAN-TWEENS
Thursdays, 4-4:30 pm. Join us on Facebook for a fun challenge for "quaran-tweens" - or anybody up for it!
July 16: Accordion Birds: Mrs. Koch shows how to create paper birds using accordion folds.
July 23: Ice Cream in a Bag: Mrs. Moorer shares a simple recipe for making ice cream. Yum!
July 30: Yarn Bowls: Mrs. Koch shows how to make bowls out of yarn.

 

BUSY BEE BOOK CLUB: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER READ?
Thursday, July 16, 7-8 pm. Are you a bookworm under 35? Are you too busy to read an assigned book each month? Join us on Facebook for a book discussion based on a monthly theme rather than a title on the third Thursday of each month. This month we will discuss our Favorite Summer Reads.

July 17: Mrs. Schaffner continues this week's rainy theme. Do you have your homemade rain stick ready?
July 24: Mrs. Eddy continues this week's sweet theme with a story about cake.

ART AS MEDITATION WITH KATHERINE DOWNIE: COLORED PENCIL/WATERCOLOR NATURE BOTANICALS POSTCARD
Monday, July 20. Create a colorful postcard featuring flowers and greenery that will help relax your mind and take you to a peaceful place.  Experiment with colored pencils and, if you want, watercolor, as you are shown step-by-step how to fill a page with a bright botanical scene.

Supplies needed: 4”x6” cardstock or watercolor paper, #2 pencil, eraser, colored pencils.
Optional: watercolor paints and brushes.

A link to a video tutorial for this project will be available here and on our Facebook page on Monday, July 20. The video link will be available for two weeks.

 

SUMMER TIME "TAKE AND MAKE" CRAFTS FOR TEENS
Mondays. Every Monday we will have DIY packs available for pickup for our teen crafters. Registration is required to pick up a craft kit.

STITCHES & KNOTS: DROP-IN KNITTING AND CROCHET
Monday, July 20, 6:30-8:30 pm. Join us on Zoom every third Monday evening for an online knitting and crochet group! All skill levels welcome - if you want to learn how to knit or crochet, or if you are experienced and want some company while you create, this is the group for you. This is an informal and welcoming group and a chance to meet others that share an interest in fiber arts. Please register with an email address to receive a link for this Zoom meeting. RHYME TIME

 Every Tuesday evening you can check in on Facebook for a short and sweet Storytime!

July 28: Join Mrs. Moorer and three billy goats as they tromp across troll's bridge.

FAMILY READ-ALOUD
Tuesday,  July 21 & July 28 7-7:30 pm.
 Listen in every Tuesday evening on Facebook for a family-friendly read-aloud. Have a snack, a cup of tea, maybe something to keep your hands busy while you listen. Mrs. Schaffner will pick up where she left off last week with The Peterkin Papers by Lucretia P. Hale.

MAKE @ HOME CRAFTS FOR KIDS
Wednesdays, 10:30-11 am.
 Join us on Facebook and learn a new craft. We love hands-on activities! 
July 22: On a hot summer day, Mrs. Koch stays cool with a cool painting project using ice.
July 29: Mrs. Eddy gets creative with light and shadows. What kind of light will you experiment with -- sunlight? a flashlight? something else?

ART WITH KEITH
Wednesday,  July 22 & July 29, 3-4 pm.
 TEENS! Just because we are home, doesn't mean we aren't creating! We’ll be posting a weekly art challenge from our resident art teacher, Keith McGuire on our Facebook page.  Follow along and then share your art in the comments!

TRIVIA NIGHT
Wednesdays, 5-10 pm. 
Join us on Crowdpurr every Wednesday anytime between 5 and 10 pm in July and August for a fun-filled night of trivia! Compete against your family, friends and other community members for bragging rights. Each game is 30 questions, and you have 25 seconds to answer each question. Each question starts at 100 points, but answer quickly - the longer you wait the less points you'll earn! Log in anytime between 5-10 pm to play. The game will continue on a loop.

MICHIGAN IN THE CIVIL WAR
Thursday, July 23, 6-7:45 pm. At the beginning of the Civil War, in April of 1861, Michigan had about 1200 men and a few officers in the State Militia. By January of 1865 nearly 89,000 Michigan soldiers had served in the war. Join historians Dave and Al Eicher on Zoom to hear true stories about Governor Blair’s search for troops to meet Lincoln’s request and the Michigan people who answered his call. The program will include music and sounds created at reenactment events to bring Michigan’s role in the Civil War to life.
