CORONAVIRUS: No Deaths, 3 Hospitalizations for Washtenaw County This Week

Washtenaw County completed its second consecutive week without a COVID-19 death.

There were no new deaths and one new hospitalization in COVID-19 data updated Friday by the Washtenaw County Health Department. Washtenaw County hasn't added a new death to its totals since the 114th death with COVID-19 was reported Aug. 19. 445 Washtenaw residents have been hospitalized.

The county reported 29 new lab-confirmed cases, bringing the total to 2,658. None of the new cases were in Saline's 48176 zip code, which has had 176 residents test positive. The number of recoveries increased by eight to 2,326.

Here's our weekly review of the Friday-to-Friday data.

  • There were no new deaths for the second straight week. There were 22 deaths the week of May 2, the highest weekly death total observed by the county.
  • There were three hospitalizations, down from four last week. There were 87 hospitalizations the week of April 4 - the worst week of hospitalizations.
  • There were 130 cases, one fewer than last week.
  • There were 82 recoveries, 18 fewer than last week.
  • There were seven cases in Saline's 48176, seven fewer than last week.

Michigan reported seven new deaths, bringing the state total to 6,526. The state reported 982 new cases.

The state's hospitalization data was updated Friday. The number of patients in critical care with COVID-19 or suspected to have COVID-19 fell by seven to 150. The number of patients on ventilators fell by four to 71. 

There were two confirmed COVID-19 pediatric cases in hospitals and four other patients where COVID-19 is suspected.
