By winning Friday's game at Skyline, 53-13, Saline clinched its first conference title since 2006. Saline (7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC) shares the 2012 SEC Red Championship with Pioneer, the only team to defeat the Hornets this season.
Saline hosts a struggling Novi Wildcats (1-7) football team next week. With a victory, the Hornets would finish 8-1. The last time the Hornets had a one-loss regular season was 1998, when Saline was 7-1 in the regular season. Saline hasn't had an eight-win regular season since 1990, when the Hornets were unbeaten in the regular season.
