These days I visit regularly with our area takeout food providers who are managing to stay open. To some extent, I am also am in contact with non-open food providers and other small business owners - all of whom are hoping to open soon. There have been encouraging signs lately, but we’re still at least several challenging weeks away!
Our food provider industry is vital to our local economy, not for just what they do on their own, but also for the kind of related commerce they bring for all types of other small business. There are now some studies suggesting that one in five restaurants across the country will not be able make it through this current crisis. We don’t want that to happen here.
Below is information about a current program the Chamber is sponsoring along with The Saline Post to try and provide a little help for all of our area food providers during this challenging period. We’re asking that you consider a small donation to your place of choice along with a few positive and encouraging comments. This is not a contest or a competition but just an expression of your support. Any food provider can be nominated and any number of nominations can made. I can tell you for those who have received checks so far there is always a heightened expression of encouragement and appreciation! Maybe a little added hope too.
Each week of closure is more challenging than the last and I hope you will consider participating and letting friends know about this program. Positive “word of mouth” is always the best sales tool. More details are also available through The Saline Post.
Thanks again. Everything helps these days!
