Fair Features Healthy Kids Fair, Bike Giveaway, Hypnotist Show and More Saturday

Saturday, September 3 is Children’s Day at the Saline Community Fair and it will feature a Healthy Kids Fair with various activities from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. which are centered on health, safety and nutrition. A Fun Run around the fairgrounds is open to kids of all ages and the starting line will be at the grandstand entrance at 10:30 a.m.  Several organizations and businesses will be at the Healthy Kids Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Frasier Bike from Ann Arbor invites kids to bring their bike for a bike rodeo, the American Red Cross will be demonstrating Fire Safety and Hands Only CPR, and the DNR will be covering Boating Safety and Water Safety. Other activities will focus on Healthy Food Choices. A Pedal Pull for both youth and adults will be held at 2 p.m. and the Antique Tractor Pull starts off the grandstand events at 9 a.m. The evening grandstand show is the Super Stock and Modified Tractor Pull which begins at 7 p.m.  At the other end of the fairgrounds, under the open pavilion, Saline’s own Fiddlers Philharmonic will perform at 7 p.m.  The Beer Barn will also be open Saturday evening from 5 p.m. to midnight and will feature live music. 

There are many other activities taking place throughout the week. In addition to exhibits, inside and outside displays and animals, the Small Animal Barn will be open all week and the Farmer for a Day activity area will provide fun for kids. Farmer John will provide several shows with animals on Saturday.  Well known Hypnotist, Richard Barker, will share his incredible talent as he performs two shows daily, after 3 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday. Area businesses have displays throughout the fairgrounds and there are a variety of food booths. Elliott’s Amusements will provide the carnival rides and on Saturday the rides open at 1 p.m.

Seventeen bikes will be given away to lucky winners in tribute to Saline’s Sesquicentennial. Entry forms can be deposited throughout fair week into corresponding containers located with the bikes in Building B on the fairgrounds. The forms are on the website and available at local sponsors and at the fair. The drawings will be held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. and winners do not need to be present.
